Vibrant ExpeditieNext celebrates science and sparks enthusiasm among kids |
Each spring, science festival ExpeditieNEXT transforms a different Dutch city into a science hotspot for kids. On May 1, the festival took place in Enkhuizen, and AMOLF joined with two activities. With the ‘Make your own hologram’ activity, AMOLF aims to spark wonder and enthusiasm for light manipulation. A new activity, ‘Flavor enhancers’, illustrates research on mirror-image (chiral) molecules, which resemble one another but have different properties. |

KNAW appoints Albert Polman to the Board |
On the Board of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, Albert Polman will represent the Domain of Natural Sciences and Technology. He will also continue his work as AMOLF group leader. |

Three grants, three paths toward impact |
In a relatively short period of time, three AMOLF group leaders received news that their project proposals had been awarded funding. The projects range from a personal grant for Wiebke Albrecht, to a collaborative grant for Kristina Ganzinger and a fellow researcher, to a project that will help AMOLF make its organization more sustainable. This variety of grants illustrates the different approaches which AMOLF uses to contribute to scientific advancement. |

AMOLF has wanted to put solar panels on its roof for years. This spring, that wish became reality. The panels are efficient, made in the Netherlands, and fully recyclable at the end of their lifespan. |
